Chris's Allure of the Seas ship visit
A visit to remember... I was lucky enough to travel to Barcelona to visit Allure of the Seas recently. Despite working in travel (and specialising in cruises) for 24 years, I had not yet experienced an Oasis class ship. It was embarkation day, so when our small group boarded at 9.30am the ship was quiet of passengers. READ THE FULL EXPERIENCE BELOW...

The theme of our visit was 'Suite Class', so we had the chance to visit some of the best suites on the ship. If I could highlight just one, it has to be the Royal Loft Suite which was the first on our tour... wow what a suite, everything you could wish for! And who was that guy busying himself with some very specific finishing touches... that's the Royal Genie (think of a butler 2.0). The Royal Genie will make sure you have everything you want – and more than you ever imagined.
There's not enough room here to go in-depth about the suites, but if you're interested, please speak to our Cruise Specialists about the Sea Class, Sky Class and Star Class... you won't be disappointed!
After enjoying a tour of the suites, we had plenty of time to explore the rest of the ship at leisure before heading for lunch. Lunch had been arranged in Giovanni's Table, a fantastic family-style restaurant situated within Central Park. However... I made my excuses. As I was the only member of the group who hadn't been onboard an Oasis Class ship before, I preferred to spend as much time as possible exploring the ship. So I opted for some very satisfying pizza from Sorrento's... a wise choice for this pizza lover!
I've always wanted to see an Oasis Class Central Park, and it really did feel like a serene escape in the middle of the ocean (or the port of Barcelona if we're going to be specific!). The ship had started to fill up with boarding passengers by now, but Central Park wasn't over crowded. There was plenty of room to walk or site and marvel at the thousands of live plants and trees in this lush garden retreat.
The Royal Promenade on deck 5 is the main hub of the ship, and this is where you get a sense of Allures size. There are pubs, shops, restaurants (Sorrentos, is it too soon for more pizza?), guest services and so much more. Head up a flight of stairs (or take the lift if you prefer) and you can exit onto the Boardwalk, where you pass the carousel, Boardwalk Donuts, The Boardwalk Dog House (hot dogs!), Johnny Rockets and head towards the amazing Aquatheatre.
Heading to the upper decks, The Ultimate Abyss, where you can get from deck 16 to deck 6 in a matter of seconds, and is a must not just for kids, but those adults who are still kids at heart. We were fortunate to be first in line, as the Ultimate Abyss is closed during bad weather, and rain was on the horizon.
I was very fortunate to be able to spend the day onboard in Barcelona, there is so much more to 'Allure' that this very brief snapshot, but I hope it has helped whet your appetite for a cruise onboard Allure of the Seas!
