Top 10 Activities On Board Independence of the Seas

Independence of the Seas has always been one of my favourite ships. The activities on board and the entertainment has always been plentiful and to an excellent standard. It has recently gone under refurbishment which has really enhanced this ship and made it even better than before.

Here are my Top 10 activities to do on board this ship : -

Number 1 : Escape Room
The recently added Escape room has proven popular with guests. With the help of your friends (up to 6 people can take part) you can help the Time Travelling lost professor find his way back. The room is decorated beautifully with a huge telescope as a centre point.

Number 2 : Laser Tag
You and your friends can go head to head in a glow in the dark room as you battle against each other for Planet Z. This activity is perfect for sea days or rainy days at sea when you are looking for some time to kill. Great fun and a good way to release some energy.

Number 3 : Splashaway Bay
This is a huge, bright interactive waterpark catering for the little cruisers. It features a variety of activities such as water slides, water fountains, water cannons, drench bucket and pools. Situated on Deck 11, it’s a great way to spend your sunny day at sea.

Number 4 : SkyPad
Situated up on top deck where you will see a very noticeable large orange ball! This SkyPad is a bungee trampoline style virtual reality game. You are strapped in to a harness on the trampoline and given a VR headset where you can pick between 3 experiences : A pop video, a battle against aliens and a candy style game (like candy crush.) You can navigate through your VR world by jumping on the trampoline to get to higher planes. Very popular with kids and adults alike.

Number 5 : Vitality Spa
With some many fun activities on board, it’s only fair to have a little haven of relaxation. The Vitality Spa offers a wide range of treatments from nails, hair, relaxing massages and body wraps. They offer discounts on days in port and it’s always worth booking in early. Especially for pampering on those formal nights.

Number 6 : Ice Skating
Accessed by Deck 2 and 3 the Studio B Ice skating show really surprised me. I admit that I didn’t expect much before I went to the ice show but it was excellent. The quality and talent was exceptional and with the colourful backdrops and music it made for a great show. During the day you can hire ice skates and take a spin for yourself.

Number 7 : Sugar Beach
A new addition to the Royal Promenade on board Independence, this confectionery heaven is filled with lots of delightful sweet treats, just like a pick and mix shop. Charges vary per ship.

Number 8 : Royal Promenade
One of the main features of the Independence of the seas is the Royal Promenade – a street on board the ship filled with lots of eateries, bars and activities and serves as the main hub of the ship. At night time the Royal Promenade can transform in to a live music venue offering live shows and parades from the entertainment team.

Number 9 : Windjammer Café
One of the largest buffet areas I have seen at sea. It’s normally very busy as the food is amazing and there is so much choice. It features lots of different food stations from all over the world and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Perfect for your casual days and nights at sea if you don’t fancy the main dining every night.

Number 10 : Alhambra Theatre
Situated on Deck 3, the theatre is 2 decks high and features the Broadway style musical Grease. This show is incredible. Adapted from the movie and the play the production and talent of the actors is to an excellent standard. The show is on twice a night and is free.
