A cruise line with French origins, Ponant are a torchbearer for expedition style cruising, with their vessels sailing to some of the most enchanting corners of the world.
Ponant's first vessel, the ever popular Le Ponant was launched in 1991 and this sleek, 1,443 modern sailing ship is still going strong. Le Ponant charts unique sailings to the Medterranean, Cuba and more.
In 2010 the first of four 264-passenger yachts with AIC ice-hardened hulls was added to the fleet. In 2021 a liquified natural gas powered icebreaker joined the fleet, offering voyages to the Geographic North Pole and remote parts of Antarctica.
PONANT EXPLORER SHIPS
So successful is the Ponant brand that six state-of-the-art "Ponant Explorer" ships are scheduled to join the fleet in the next few years. The first of these two are Le Lapérouse and Le Champlain, which made their debut in 2018. With only 92 staterooms and suites, these all balcony luxury exploration ships couple ultra-chic French design with cutting-edge technology at the forefront of boutique-style exploration cruising.
Each of the "Ponant Explorer" class ships will be fitted with a 'Blue Eye' underwater lounge, a world first which allows guests to see the underwater world through two portholes.
