Posted by The Cruise Specialists on 22 June, 2016.
Cunard flagship, Queen Mary 2 has just emerged from dry-dock after a month-long refit and refurbishment. Here we take a look at the highlights of her makeover:
The kennels on QM2 have been expanded to accommodate 10 more animal travellers on Transatlantic Crossings. A lampost (for UK dogs) and a fire hydrant (for American canines) will be installed to help the visiting pooches feel at home.
New Single Staterooms:
The refit introduces 15 new Single staterooms, offering single guests an elegant, modern stateroom experienc with softer colour tones to enhance the feeling of space, as well as contemporary carpet patterns inspired by the original Queen Mary. Staterooms will be Britannia class on deck 2 and 3L.
New Britannia Club Staterooms:
30 extra Britannia Club Balcony staterooms have been added, in additon to refurbishing pre-existing Britannia Club Balcony staterooms - a process which will continue long after the initial refit is completed.
The Winter Garden will be transformed into an elegant, airy and versatile new venue named after Cunard's Carinthia ships. A tranquil retreat by day, the serene lounge will provide the perfect place to relax and catch up with friends, or a good book, as well as enjoy light breakfast and lunch dishes. When the sun sets, the atmosphere will evolve into an inviting evening spot where we will pair premium wines with complimentary tasting plates, and relaxed entertainment.
Queens and Princess Grill Suites:
All grades of Queens Grill and Princess Grill suites have been refurbished during the 2016 refit to offer an enhanced level of luxury reflective of today’s guest expectations and of Cunard’s iconic heritage. The bedroom and living spaces within all Grill suites will be redesigned to reveal a new look and reconfigured to maximise space. There will also be new exclusive artwork within the suites with bespoke architectural motifs that showcase the beauty, history and magnitude of iconic Cunard buildings around the world.
Kings Court has been completely transformed with a more open, intuitive central buffet area and reconfigured seating arrangements to create a relaxed self-service experience with a refined yet informal ambiance.
Already popular on Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria, the debut of this new signature restaurant onboard Queen Mary 2 means that all three Cunard ships will feature this distinct fine dining experience with a contemporary premium French menu and delicious seasonal fare.
