Between Seasons Cruises

Board a repositional cruise travelling from one seasonal cruise base to another for cut prices on longer sailings. Remember your value cruise will end in another port, so you’ll need a cheap one-way flight home.

Early Birds

Don’t always catch the worm, as research shows flexible travellers booking last minute (45-60 days in advance) pick up the best deals. If you need to cruise in high season, book at least six months ahead. Some ships offer early-booking perks such as cabin upgrades.

Last Minute Cruises

On the rise, last-minute cruising proves that if you are flexible about when, where and how you travel, there are great bargains to be had. Book value cruises around 60 days before departure, when the cancellation period ends and cruise lines slash fares to fill their ships. Check cruise websites for the latest savings.

Seasonal Specials

Peak periods like Christmas, Easter and the school holidays tend to be pricier. Travel out of high season for last-minute bargains. The weather can’t be guaranteed on early- or late-season breaks, but expect fewer crowds and greater holiday discounts. It pays to know the seasons of your destination, such as March and September for European deals, or November to January in the Caribbean (hurricane season).

Value for Money

From a 14-day family cruise in the Caribbean to all-inclusive holidays in the Norwegian fjords, fewer hidden extras mean cruises cost roughly the same as land-based holidays. Luxury holidays at sea are cheaper than ashore, and even solo travellers can save with single cabins and cabin-mate options. All-inclusive itineraries include meals, drinks, entertainment and room service, allowing you to control your travel budget better.
