Baltic & Fjord Cruises

From midnight lights to Norway’s heights, the north matches the Mediterranean for access, affordability and appeal. Board a Baltic cruise to soak up St Petersburg’s grand palaces and Copenhagen’s hip café culture. Or release your inner adventurer aboard a small ship to the knife-edge Norwegian fjords and North Cape’s frozen wilderness – the stuff true voyages are made of.

Baltic Cruise
A big-ship Baltic cruise gives first-timers a true taste of the north, taking in Copenhagen’s Little Mermaid, Oslo’s parks and frescoes, Stockholm’s waterways and Helsinki’s Art Nouveau gems. Other vessels stop at Tallinn, Riga and Gdansk, before calling at St Petersburg, overshadowed by gold-domed St Isaac's Cathedral.

Coastal Cruise
Little ships skim the coasts, travelling from Bergen to the glaciers of the Svalbard Islands, bordering the Arctic. Ports of call include Tromsø, the gateway to Polar expeditions, peak-capped Hammerfest and Honningsvag in the Arctic Circle (the world's northernmost village).

Cruise Season
Norwegian and Baltic cruises sail from May to September (high season is July to August). Avoid the crowds by cruising early, or late, season – the best time to get special deals on your holiday.

Norwegian Fjords Cruise
Insiders navigate Norway’s magnificent waterways aboard a smaller vessel that can sail in shallow waters. Most itineraries take in medieval Bergen, Viking capital Trondheim’s wooden stave churches and Ålesund. Slicing the mountains in two, the Norwegian fjords offer active tours, from hiking to kayaking and deep-sea fishing. Come in midsummer for 24-hour daylight.
